Rev. Paul Eugene Stanley

Abingdon, VA – Rev. Paul Eugene Stanley, age 85, went to be with Jesus on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, in Bristol Regional Medical Center. He was the beloved husband of 68 years to the belated Loma Waycaster Stanley. Rev. Stanley, a pastor, prayer warrior, friend to all, servant of God, and pioneer in the Holiness movement. “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith”.

While the family grieves this tremendous loss, they take comfort in the fact that, without a doubt, he is with God and have a glorious reunion with his wife, son, and grandson who were waiting for him. Rev. Paul Stanley was the pastor of Free Pentecostal Assembly in Abingdon and had helped pioneer seven previous Holiness churches.

In addition to his wife, Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Etta Denney Stanley; son, Rev. Don Stanley; and grandson, Christopher Stanley.

He is survived by two daughters, Phyllis Hubbard and Melissa Sykes, both of Abingdon, VA; three sons, Gwin Stanley and wife Sandy of Bristol, VA, Jerry Stanley and wife Sonya of Abingdon, VA, and Marvin Stanley and wife Tracey of Bristol, VA; daughter-in-law, Donna Stanley of Bristol, VA; brother, Roy Stanley of Bristol, VA; sisters, Jettie Blevins of Meadowview, VA, Mimble Osborne of Goldsboro, NC, and Mary Hayes of Richmond, VA; 16 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren; and several special nieces.

Visitation with the family will be held 5-8 p.m. Saturday, February 12, 2022, in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with Rev. Tim Lester and Rev. John Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memory Gardens with grandsons serving as pallbearers. Military rites will be conducted by Highlands Veterans Honor Guard and the Virginia Army National Guard.
