Rev. Robert Lee “Bob” Carbary, age 78, of Meadowview, Va., went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 12, 2019. He was born August 1, 1940, to the late Robert Thomas “R.T.” Carbary and Dora Gladys Caudill Carbary in Hayters Gap, Va. Bob worked at Raytheon, Washington County Social Services, and retired from the United Methodist Church where he had ministered for over 30 years. Most recently he was a member of Shady Grove United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, Bob was also preceded in death by an infant son, Mark Allen Carbary. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Patsy Jackson Carbary; son, Robert Lee “Robbie” Carbary II and fiancée, Candace, of Abingdon; daughter, Laura Paige Carbary Smith and husband, Wayne, of Bristol, Tenn.; and brother, Donald Wayne Carbary and wife, Jewel, of Abingdon.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, January 16, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at Forest Hills Memory Gardens with the Rev. Jonathan Jonas officiating. Pallbearers will be Don Carbary, Robert Lee “Robbie” Carbary II, Bobby Jones, Randy Miller, Wayne Smith and James Stroup. Military honors will be provided by the Highlands Veterans Honor Guard and the Virginia National Guard. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 15, 2019, from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
