Abingdon, VA – Revonda M. Hollandsworth, age 90, passed away on Sunday, June 1, 2014 at Johnston Memorial Hospital. She was born in Washington County, VA on February 14, 1924. She attended the Abingdon Church of Christ. She was a homemaker and served as a minister’s wife meeting the needs of many people day or night. She was a true servant of the Lord and fought a lifelong battle of pain and suffering. Now fly away on the wings of doves to where you will have no more pain or suffering. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Montgomery and Martha Jane Davis Montgomery; first husband, Earnest H. Perkins; second husband, Troy M . Hollandsworth, Sr.; three brothers, Ralph Montgomery, Billy B. and Bobby Montgomery, who were twins; and one niece. Survivors include her daughter, Carolyn Jane “JJ” Ball of the home and mate Charles Martin; grandson, Richard W. “Flippy” Owens, who she thought of as her own son, and wife Melissa of Bristol, TN; sister, Lucille Snead of Abingdon, VA; three step-sons: Troy M. Hollandsworth, Jr. and wife Reidy of Bassett, VA; Gary Hollandsworth and wife Janice of Martinsville, VA; and David Hollandsworth and wife Hilda of Ocala, FL; four step-grandchildren: Mathew Hollandsworth of Bassett, VA; Bert and Beth Hollandsworth of Martinsville, VA; and Lindsey Hollandsworth of Ocala, FL; step-great grandson, Adam Smith of Bristol, TN; five additional step-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m.-7:45 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. A funeral ceremony will be held at 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Minister Bill Haywood, Troy Hollandsworth, and Gary Hollandsworth officiating. A committal service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 5th at Mt. Rose Cemetery in Glade Spring, VA where Lloyd Montgomery, Mark Montgomery, Mike Montgomery, Michael Montgomery, and the Men of Abingdon Church of Christ will serve as pallbearers. Flowers will be accepted.
