Meadowview, Va. Mrs. Rhoda Jane “Janie” Stuart, age 79, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 2, 2015, in Abingdon Health and Rehab Center after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Mrs. Stuart was a daughter of the late Walker and Mary Wright Sweet. She had lived in the Meadowview area all her life and was owner of Stuart’s Greenhouse. Mrs. Stuart loved the Lord; she was of the Baptist faith and a member of Highlands Fellowship Church. She was a loving caregiver who provided wonderful care for her mother and her husband toward the end of their lives. She will always be remembered for baking birthday cakes for her family members, which brought great joy to everyone. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, George Washington Stuart. Mrs. Stuart is survived by two sons, George David Stuart and wife Sherrie, and Joseph Mike Stuart and wife LeDonna, all of Meadowview; five grandchildren, Deana Duffield and husband Dwayne, Jenny Mutter and husband Brian, Amanda Stuart, Brent Stuart and wife Jenifer, and Brad Stuart and wife Stephanie; five great-grandchildren, Logan Kasie Mutter, Bryson Duffield, Jacob T. Mutter, Isabella Stuart and Eli Stuart; and sisters Nancy Matthews and husband Jim, and Georgia S. Adams. The funeral service for Mrs. Rhoda Jane Stuart will be held at noon Saturday, September 5, 2015, at the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon, VA, with Pastor Jimmie Davidson officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Memory Gardens with Brad Stuart, Brent Stuart, Brian Mutter, Dwayne Duffield, Jacob Mutter and Walker Baumgardner serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Eli Stuart and Rick Baumgardner. The family will receive friends Saturday at the Forest Hills Chapel from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. The family will also receive friends at the home of Mike and LeDonna, 28261 Ezekiel Lane, Meadowview, VA 24361.
