Mr. Richard Alan Beckham, age 83, passed away Monday, December 11, 2017, at home.
Mr. Beckham was born February 18, 1934 in St. Louis, Missouri to the late Forest C. Beckham and the late Bertha Louree Meadows Beckham. Mr. Beckham was a veteran of the United States Air Force and was a member of the Masonic Lodge and of the Shriners. Mr. Beckham was a retired quality control engineer with forty-three years of service with McDonald-Douglas and Boeing. He was also a member of Chilhowie Baptist Church. Richard moved to Glade Spring from Germany where he had lived for ten years.
Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his previous wife, Carolyn Beckham.
Mr. Beckham is survived by his wife, Beverly Seeley Beckham. Richard was survived by his two sons, Michael L. Beckham and wife Kay, and Gregory A. Beckham; three step-sons, Bruce McLain and wife Jonalyn, Barry McLain and wife Trish, and Bradley McLain and wife Vicki; and several grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service will be conducted 10 a.m. Friday, December 15, 2017 in the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, 19415 Lee Highway, with Pastor Charles Herrell officiating. Entombment will follow in the Colonial Chapel Mausoleum on the grounds of Forest Hills Memory Gardens. Military Honors will be conducted by the Bristol,Tenn. V.F.W. Please note the family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m, Thursday, December 14, 2017 in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, 427 East Main Street, Abingdon, VA 24210. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Building Fund of Chilhowie Baptist Church, 625 East Lee Highway, Chilhowie, VA 24319.
