Dateline: Bristol, Va.- Richard E. "Dick" Goodpasture, age 73, ended his watch on Tuesday, December 1, 2015, to meet his Lord and Savior. He was preceded in death by his parents, Williard Goodpasture and Grace Tilson Goodpasture, and his brother, Bill Goodpasture. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Sharon Tindell Goodpasture; two sons, Tom Goodpasture and his wife Melanie of Hanover, Va. and Scott Goodpasture and his wife Meggan of Winston-Salem, N.C.; and three grandchildren, Grace Goodpasture, Elliott Goodpasture, and Beckett Goodpasture. Dick joined the Virginia State Police in 1963 and left in 1971 to join the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, where he retired. He managed Tri-City Security and B H Bonding Companies for many years before finally settling down to travel and fly fish with his wife. A Christian since the age of 13, he was a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Bluff City, Tenn. Visitation will be on Saturday, December 5, 2015, from 10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Mike Pope officiating. Family and friends will travel in procession to the Memorial Grove at Forest Hills Memory Gardens for a committal service with a reception to follow at the Forest Hills Chapel of Forest Hills Memory Gardens.
