Rita Sharon Ross, age 49, passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2012, at Johnson City Medical Center. She was a lifelong resident of Abingdon, daughter of the late John Robert Ross, Sr. and Hazel Mae Gentry Ross. She graduated from Abingdon High School in 1980 and had worked for Burger King for twenty-six years, serving in management with the Abingdon Burger King for many years.

She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Kingsport, Tennessee.

Ms. Ross is survived by two brothers: John R. Ross, Jr. of Abingdon, and Milton Ross and wife Barbara of Hampton, Va.; four sisters: Linda Robinson and husband Furman of Rixeyville, Va.; Dorothy Ross of Abingdon; Teresa Ross of Roanoke, Va.; and Mildred "Missy" Ross of Abingdon; three nieces: Amber Robinson, Adrian Anderson and Rhinda Piggee; and two nephews: LaFiamma Ross and Furman Robinson II.

The homegoing service for Rita Sharon Ross will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 13, 2012, at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Dr. Kenneth Calvert and Dr. Linda Calvert officiating. Burial will follow at High Point Cemetery in Abingdon. The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 12, 2012, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Anderson, Jimmy Cato, George Pope, Kenny Gerard, David Duggar, William McClintock, and Sterling Ellison, and Honorary pallbearer Mose Hammer.
