Robert Calvin Garrett

Robert Calvin Garrett, age 44, of Abingdon, Va., went to be with the Lord on January 19, 2022, after a tragic and sudden accident.

Our beloved Robert was a wonderful husband, father, son, and grandfather who touched the lives of those around him. He dedicated his life to helping others and greatly impacted everyone who knew him. He was a hard worker as a master carpenter and had a great passion for rescuing and nurturing animals. He was of the Christian faith and found God in nature.

Robert is preceded in death by his father, Robert Calvin Sluss, Sr.

He is survived by his loving wife and partner of 17 years, Melissa Jane White-Garrett; two daughters, Tia Lee Marlene Brown, and her husband, Alex; and Eppie Anne Moore; granddaughter, Ada Jane Rene’e Brown; his mother, Elizabeth Faye Bordwine; two brothers, Randall Sluss, and Michael Garrett; three sisters, Rhonda Hammonds, Cindy Sluss, and Pam Sluss; brothers-in-law, Jason White, and Steve Hamm; two sisters-in-law, Emily Miller, and Kim White; four nephews, Toby Tyler Frye, Bryson Lane Frye, Jay Bryant Frye, Christian Stanley White; one great nephew, Beckham Trevor Frye; several loving aunts and uncles; many cousins; and more friends than one could count.
