Robert Carl Landon, age 80, of Bristol, Va., passed away on Saturday, April 8, 2017, at his home. He was born in Grundy, Va. on January 14, 1937, to the late Earl Ervin Landon and Elsie Josephine Hackney Landon. He was an auto technician in Bloomfield Hills, Mich. prior to his retirement in December of 2002. He was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ and locally attended Painter Creek Church of Christ.
In addition to his parents, Robert was also preceded in death by two brothers, Oakland and Paul; and two sisters, Ruth and Nina.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Janice Justice Landon; son, Robert Steven Landon of the home; and five sisters: Dorothy Bell of Utica, Mich.; Jean Stiltner and husband Leo of Mich.; Yvonne Childress and husband John of Abingdon, Va.; Betty Ann Kilgore and husband Nolan of Coeburn, Va.; and Gaye Belcher and husband John of Big Stone Gap, Va.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 11, 2017, at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Minister Mark Gaminde officiating. Entombment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Bristol, Va. where Steve Landon, John Childress, Chad Childress, Leo Stiltner, Nolan Kilgore, John Belcher, and Gavin Emerson Bagwell will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. Monday, April 10, 2017, at the funeral home.
