Robert Rob Cornell White, 61, passed away at midnight on April 30, 2016, at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon, Va. following a cancer diagnosis in January of this year.
Rob was creative, tenacious, resourceful, and independent. He had a brilliant mind and dreamed of making the world a better place. A natural born adventurer and outdoorsman who was rarely seen without his Indiana Jones-style hat, Rob loved the Blue Ridge Mountains and sharing their beauty with his children. He was a passionate gardener with a true green thumb. Rob was also a skilled builder he built additions to his home and treehouses for his children. He was an expert at building fires and enjoyed relaxing by the fireside and listening to his favorite show A Prairie Home Companion. He was a faithful man who loved Jesus with all his heart.
Rob was preceded in death by his father, Arthur R. Bill White. He is survived by his mother, Alice White; his children, Dylan White, Erin Easter and husband Ryan, and Michelle White; brother, Paul White and wife Angie; sister, Alicia and husband Dick; sister, Ginny and husband Dixon; as well as, numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. A memorial service in Robs honor is scheduled to be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2016, in the Providence United Methodist Church, 2810 Providence Rd., Charlotte, N.C. 28211.
