Robert "Danny" Whicker

Bristol, VA – Robert Daniel Whicker, age 59, passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at his home. He was a member of Maple Grove Presbyterian Church and worked for Federal Pacific Transformers for nearly 40 years as a winding supervisor and a training supervisor. He also enjoyed raising cattle on his farm. He was preceded in death by his mother, Cornelia Gillenwater Whicker; brother, Charles Whicker; sister, Joyce Ann Roark; and grandson, Dalton Amos. He is survived by his father, Carl Edward Whicker of Bristol, VA; his loving wife of nearly 30 years, Cathy Bowers Whicker; two daughters, Candy Hendry and husband Jeff of Bristol, TN and Brandy Toncray and husband Chip of Elizabethton, TN; two step daughters, Danielle McCrady and husband Kris and Ashley Amos all of Abingdon, VA; brother, Gary “Moses” Whicker of Elizabethton, TN; eight grandchildren, Kendra Brent, Ashlyn Hendry, Jeffrey Hendry, Katelyn Whicker, Aubrey Toncray, Laken Toncray, Elliott Amos, and Brennan Dales; niece and nephew, Holly Bays and Carson Whicker; and two great nephews, Grayson Bays and Maddox Bays. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, May 16, 2014 at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, May 17, 2014 at the funeral home with Pastor Stephen Talbert officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Brown, Ethan Cox, Randy Cox, Billy Hall, Paul Hess, Keith Trivett, Scott Vanhoy, Albert Wall, and special friends, Troy and Thomas.
