Robert Earl "Bob" Cornett

Robert Earl Bob Cornett, age 69, of Meadowview, Va., passed away on Sunday, August 7, 2016, at the James H. Quillen V.A. Medical Center. He was a veteran of the Navy having served in the Vietnam War, and retired from construction sales with A.H. Harris. He served as youth leader and taught the older adult Sunday School Class at Meadowview United Methodist Church for a number of years. Bob was a former member of the Meadowview Volunteer Fire Department.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer Roosevelt Cornett and Dessie Fritz Cornett of Damascus, Va.

Bob is survived by his wife of 48 years, Janice Buckles Cornett; son, Robert Robbie C.H. Cornett and wife Carrie Cornett of Abingdon, Va.; daughter, Linda Cornett Skeen and Scott Hubbard of Piney Flats, Tenn.; three brothers, Ralph Cornett (Mary Alice) of Damascus, Va.; John Cornett (Katie) of Shady Valley, Tenn.; and Jim Cornett (Barbara) of Abingdon, Va.; sister, Toby Allen of Radford, Va.; four grandchildren, Jordan Skeen of Brevard, N.C., and RuthAnne, Will, and SaraBeth Cornett; and beloved Schnauzer, Marley; special friends, Howard and Betty Carbary of Abingdon, Va. and Earnest Skeeter Yeatts of Meadowview, Va.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 10, 2016, at Meadowview United Methodist Church, 29043 Walker Ln., Meadowview, Va. 24361, with the Rev. David Jackson and Dr. Charles Starks officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. Wednesday prior to the service at the church.
