Abingdon, VA Robert Bob Edward Parmley, age 92, passed on Sunday, February 7, 2016, at his home. Bob was born and raised in West Point, MS to the late Edgar Parmley and Esta Buddenbaum Parmley. Mr. Parmley was a U.S. Army Veteran and served in the European Theater during World War II. Bob earned a Bachelors Degree in Engineering from Mississippi State University and was an employee for United Technology in Columbus, MS for many years. He and his wife later retired and moved to Abingdon, VA where they became members of Bethel Presbyterian Church.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Chrystal Veal Parmley, and three sons, David Parmley, Donald Parmley, and Terry Parmley. He is survived by one son, Bobby Parmley of Abingdon, VA, and a host of friends.
Visitation with the family will be held 1-2 p.m. Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at Bethel Presbyterian Church. Graveside services will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the church cemetery with Pastor Jim Walker officiating. Pallbearers will be Bill Caldwell, David Coulthard, Myrl Dunham, and John Roberts, Sr. Military Rites will be conducted by Highlands Veterans Honor Guard and the Virginia National Guard.
