Robert Jasper Lewis Bowser, 86, of Springfield and formerly of Glade Spring, VA passed away Saturday, October 3, 2009 in Springfield.
He was born October 9, 1922 in Springfield, OH and was a son of the late Cecil and Hazel Lillie Mason Bowser. He had retired from Navistar and lived in Glade Spring, VA for more than twenty years before returning to Springfield. He was a kind, caring man who loved and gave all of himself to the benefit of others. He gladly gave to charity, to nature, and to family all his love and kindness. His smile, his exceptional sense of humor, and much more will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen M. Bowser; a previous wife, Betty J. Bowser; a sister, Betty Austin; and brothers, Harold and Ralph Bowser.
Survivors are his step-son, Rodger L. Poole, Sr. and wife, Sue of Springfield, OH; his son, Robert, Jr.; daughters, Patricia and Karen; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; a lifelong friend, Mason Dunn; and good friend, Betty Nichols of Villa Springfield.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Friday, October 9, 2009 at Old Glade Presbyterian Cemetery in Glade Spring. The family will receive friends at Farris Funeral Service in Abingdon from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Thursday.
