Robert J. Owens

Chilhowie, VA – Robert J. Owens, age 72, passed on Saturday, April 5, 2025, in Johnston Memorial Hospital. Robert was born in Glade Spring, VA on January 2, 1953 to the late Carl Joseph and Carrie Lee Barlow Owens. He enjoyed the outdoors and his babies.

In addition to his parents, Robert is preceded in death by his brother, Garland Owens; and two sisters, Patricia Arnold and Wanda Tuggle.

Robert is survived by his wife, Phyllis Powers Owens; four daughters, Sherry Owens of Columbia, SC, Karen Owens of Chilhowie, VA, Laura Sanchez of Glade Spring, VA, and Robin Owens and husband Juan Rodriguez of Glade Spring, VA; brother, Cecil Owens of Glade Spring, VA; sister, Mae Moorefield of Damascus, VA; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Visitation with the family will be held 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2025, in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday. Interment will follow in Mt. Rose Cemetery with Eric Bonilla, Julio Ramirez, Robert Gonzalez, Phillip Madrigal, Greg Sanchez, Juan Rodriguez, and Rogelio Madrigal serving as pallbearers. Imanual Rodriguez and Tyler Gonzales will serve as honorary pallbearers.
