Ronnie Coleman went to be with his savior Jesus on Saturday, August 17, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He passed away peacefully at UVA Hospital in Charlottesville after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on March 15, 1957, in Grundy, VA to the late Felix Hamilton Coleman and Mary Ellen Blankenship Coleman. Ronnie leaves behind a rich legacy of love, dedication, and memories that will forever be cherished by those who knew him.
He was a graduate of Abingdon High School and was the class of 1975. Ronnie devoted 42 years of his life to his career at Columbus-McKinnon. His work became a testament to his strong work ethic and commitment to excellence, cherished by colleagues and those fortunate enough to work alongside him.
Ronnie was deeply rooted in his faith and cherished his relationships with his family and friends. He loved the Lord and found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Whether it was spending a tranquil day fishing or enjoying a scenic drive, Ronnie approached life with a grateful heart and a welcoming spirit.
In addition to his parents, Ronnie was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Dee Shortridge Coleman; brother, Scotty Coleman; and sister Connie Coleman.
He will always be loved and missed by his beloved children, Tim (Felicia) Coleman and McKalia (Dan) Robinson, who carry forward his values and warmth; siblings, Steve Coleman, Tony Coleman, and Nancy Setzer; and aunt and uncle, Susie and Charlie Coleman. Ronnie was also proud of the many nieces and nephews and friends who enriched his life, leaving behind a community that will remember him fondly.
A visitation will be held at West Main Baptist Church in Abingdon, VA, on August 24, 2024, from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM, followed by a memorial service that will commence at 1:00 PM with a message from Pastor Willis Osborne. The church is located at 150 Fairground Drive, Abingdon, VA 24210.
As family and friends come together to honor his memory, they will reflect on the profound impact Ronnie had on their lives and the legacy of love he has left behind. His spirit will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him.
