Ronnie Lee Offield, 66, of Glade Spring died on Thursday, April 28, 2011, as a result of injuries sustained from the tornado.
Ronnie was born in Smyth County, VA, to the late James E. and Flossie Beatrice Offield. He loved old country music and was an avid ultra-light airplane pilot. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Brenda Offield; two sons, Jarvis of Tulsa, OK, and Tony Offield and his wife Kathy of Las Vegas, NV; three grandchildren, Rebecca, Daniel, and Bethany; numerous nieces and nephews, and a special nephew, Charlie Hogston.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Catron Air Field, Chilhowie, VA with Rev. Paul T. Griffith officiating. Military honors will be offered by Highlands Veterans Honor guard and the National Guard Honor Guard. Burial will follow the service at Mt. Rose Cemetery, Glade Spring, VA. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 4, 2011, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Farris Funeral Service, 427 East Main Street, Abingdon, Virginia.
