Rosaella Tilson Barrett, age 68, of Meadowview, Va., peacefully went to be with the Lord surrounded by her family and friends on Friday, February 12, 2016, at Johnston Memorial Hospital. Rosaella was born December 13, 1947, in Meadowview, Va. She was a 1966 graduate of Patrick Henry High School and worked in the food service industry at Emory and Henry College for 25 years. She was employed as a baker and was well-known for her cake decorating. Rosaella was a member of Yellow Springs Church of Meadowview, Va. and the Old Glade Antique Tractor Association. She enjoyed reading, traveling, watching movies, and spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude Yokley Tilson and Ocie Lola Moore Tilson; sister, Lola Kate Davenport; sister-in-law, Hazel Tilson; brother, Paul E. Moore; and niece, Sherri Diane Stiles.
Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Douglas Barrett; two daughters, Dana Barrett and Donna Hill and husband Nathan; two brothers, Kelly Tilson, all of Meadowview, Va. and Roger L. Tilson and wife Sandra of Glade Spring, Va.; sister, Kay Johnston of Damascus, Va.; nephew, Claude L. Davenport and wife Almeda of Meadowview, Va.; niece, Regina A. Stiles of Cosby, Tenn.; four special grandchildren, Lucas Barrett, Jacob Hill, Alexis Davenport, and Adam Davenport; several additional nieces, nephews, and cousins; and special friends, D.C. Walker and the employees of W and L Hauling.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. Monday, February 15, 2016, at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. A funeral ceremony will be held at 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with Pastor Dale Myers officiating. A committal service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, February 16, 2016, at Forest Hills Memory Gardens where members of the Old Glade Antique Tractor Association will serve as both pallbearers and honorary pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to defer the cost of final expenses.
