Rowland W. Adrian, Jr., 86, died Friday, August 27, 2010 at Johnston Memorial Hospital. He was the son of the late Rowland and Edith Adrian.
He was a native of Rockford, Illinois and had lived there most of his life prior to moving to Washington County 32 years ago. Mr. Adrian was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Marion and, a veteran of World War II serving in the U. S. Army with the 164th Infantry. His hobbies included raising cattle and farming.
He was preceded in death by one son Terry Adrian, one daughter, Vanessa Adrian Wilson, and a sister, Avis Ewaniak.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years and 10 days, Doris Miners Adrian; two sons, Dennis Adrian of Mt. Clemens, Michigan and Michael Adrian and wife Marcia of Ft. Collins, Colorado; one daughter, Renee Newland and husband Roy of Rockton, Illinois; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; and a niece, Patricia Ewaniak of Livonia, Michigan.
Graveside services will be conducted Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Caudill-Taylor Cemetery with Father Paul Maier officiating. Military graveside honors will be provided by the Highlands Veteran's Honor Guard. The 4th Degree Knights of Columbus will also be providing an honor guard.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home; however, friends may call at the home.
