Roy L. Hampton, 63, of Abingdon passed away on Thursday, March 17, 2011 at his residence surrounded by his family.
Born to the late Noah and Willie Hampton, Roy was a member of Masonic Lodge #48 and a member of the Shriners. Roy was a veteran of the US Army and was employed at Hajoca Corporation.
Roy is survived by his loving wife, Dora Hampton; a daughter, Tammy Guy and her husband Barry of Abingdon, VA; two sons, Gary McCormick and his wife Kitty of Abingdon, and David Eskridge and his wife Donna of Bristol, VA.; one brother, Gene Hampton and his wife Inez of Fairfax, VA; and three sisters, Ruby Hart and her husband Ernest of Abingdon, VA, Dorothy Hart of NC, and Louise Fletcher of OH; also survived by eight grandchildren; and close friends Jackie Fleenor, Ann Stringer, Johnny Burns, and his extended family from Hajoca Corporation; and his companion dog Precious.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 21, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Farris Funeral Service, 427 East Main Street, Abingdon with Pastor Larry Linkous and Bill Haywood, Minister officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memory Gardens. Military honors will be conducted by the Highlands Veterans Honor Guard and the Virginia National Guard Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 20, 2011 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Farris Funeral Service. Masonic Rites will be conducted at 6:00 PM.
