Roy Roger Meadows, 77, passed away Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at his home. Roy was born January 22, 1941 in Raven, Va. to the late Loran Meadows and the late Vicie Griffith Meadows. He retired from the United States Air Force with twenty years of service and was a volunteer fire fighter with Green Spring Volunteer Fire Department for many years.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Chester Meadows, Vernie James Meadows, Garnett Eugene Meadows, and Elmer Meadows; and his sisters, Olagay Meadows, Frances Honaker, and Arvilla Meadows. He is survived by his daughters, Cindy Williamson and husband, Bobby of Conroe, Texas and Annette Elliott of Conroe, Texas; sisters, Margie Robinette, Thelma Yates, Shirley Meister, Geneva Osborne, and Ann Dye; grandchildren, Yvonne Michael, Ronald Wayne “Bubba” Michael, Reenna Fuller, Robert “Bobby” Michael, Jamie Michael, and Jason Michael; numerous great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 30, 2018 from 6-8 p.m. in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, 427 East Main Street, Abingdon, VA 24210. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Green Spring Volunteer Fire Department, 22632 Green Spring Church Road, Abingdon, VA 24211.
