Roy Roscoe Faulkner, 81, passed away at his home Sunday, May 22, 2011.

He was born in Bristol, Virginia to the late Roy and Mabel Faulkner. Roy attended Steed College before attending Virginia Tech. He then went to serve our country in the US Army during the Korean War. He taught masonry at the Washington County Vocational Center and was a member of the Bricklayer and Allied Craftsman for over 50 years.

Roy is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Edith Faulkner; two sons, Joseph Faulkner of Abingdon, and Michael Faulkner and his wife Melissa of Bristol, VA; two daughters, Barbara Faulkner and boyfriend, William Booker of Abingdon, VA, and Susan Johnson and her husband Phil of Raleigh, NC; a sister, Jeanette Faulkner Fleenor of Abingdon; and seven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at 4:00 PM at Forest Hills Memory Garden, Chapel of Memories Mausoleum with Rev. Bob McCormick officiating. Pallbearers will be Jason Faulkner, Mark Dollar, Joe Gott, Sam Cook, Don Fleenor, Daryl Kestner, and Ray Woods. Honorary pallbearers will be Tammy Dollar, Rachel Johnson, Lea Johnson, and Hannah Gott along with several nieces and nephews. Military honor will be rendered by the Highlands Veterans Honor Guard and Virginia National Guard Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at Farris Funeral Center, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon, VA on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 from 3:00 to 4:00PM.
