Abingdon, VA – Ruby Darlene Wilson Ayers, age 78, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, May 23, 2017, after an extended illness. She was born February 13, 1939 in Bland County, VA to the late Frank and Bessie Graham Wilson. Ruby was a florist at Food City for many years and was a member of Victory Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.
Ruby is survived by her husband of 55 years, Don Ayers; her daughters, Colleen Welch and husband Dave of Altavista, VA, and Renna Warren and her husband Scott of Knoxville, TN; her pride and joy grandsons, Samuel Warren and Luke Warren of Knoxville, TN; sisters Pearl Hylton of Princeton, WV, and Thelma Owens of Bristol, VA; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, May 26, 2017, in Forest Hills Memory Gardens with Dr. Austin Cook officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Dave Welch, Scott Warren, Samuel Warren, and Luke Warren. At Mrs. Ayers’ request there will be no visitation.
