Ruby Louna Barrett Roe

Ruby Louna Barrett Roe, age 88, of Abingdon, Va., went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 5, 2018, at Abingdon Health and Rehab.  She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and a lifelong resident of Washington County, Va.  Ruby was the manager of the snack bar at Johnston Memorial Hospital for 42 years and in honor of her faithful service, Ruby’s Coffee Shop was opened on the main level of the new hospital. 

She was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Jerry D. Roe, Sr.; parents, Robert Barrett, Sr. and Stella Warren Barrett; two sisters, Irene Bailey and Jewell McGee; two brothers, Robert Barrett, Jr. and Don Barrett; and a great granddaughter, Gabriella Sellers. 

Ruby is survived by four children:  Dan Roe and wife, Faye; Donald Roe and wife, Linda; Ronnie Roe and fiancée, Karen; and Michael Roe and wife, Rebecca; special nephew, Roger Allen Roe and wife, Ginger; special niece, Kathy Gibson and husband, David; four grandchildren, Darrell Roe, David Roe, Wendy Sellers, and Clayton Roe; 11 great grandchildren; and several additional nieces and nephews.   

A funeral service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, 2018, at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 19383 Lee Hwy., Abingdon, Va., with Pastor Bryan Treadway officiating.  A committal service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 9th at Forest Hills Memory Gardens where David Roe, Clayton Roe, Robert Sellers, Garrett Roe, Jacob Roe, and Stacy Bayse will serve as pallbearers.  Honorary pallbearers will be Tony Roe, Ira Price, Eddie Lambert, Rick Widener, Ethan Sellers, Fred Singleton, and Kenneth Wolfe.  Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m.-7:30 p.m. Tuesday prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Heaven’s View Baptist Church, P.O. Box 3828 Arizona City, AZ 85123, c/o Darrell Roe.
