Ruby Olinger Cardwell, formerly of Glade Spring, Va., went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 30, 2021, at the Sun City Center Hospice House in Florida. A faithful and God-fearing woman, she loved Jesus and her family above all else. She will be deeply missed.
One of five children, Ruby was born April 25, 1927, in Saltville, Va. Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Herman Olinger and Minnie Chapman Olinger; and husband, Edd Warren Cardwell.
Left to cherish her memories are two children, daughter, Susan (Abe) Shirk of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; son, Cliff (Li) Cardwell of Riverview, Fla.; three grandchildren, John David Ray, Anna Cardwell, and Daniel Cardwell; two sisters, Mary (Mason) Hicks and Beulah Walton; two brothers, Eugene (Pauline) Olinger and Ernest (Shirley) Olinger; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A funeral ceremony will be livestreamed on Sunday, February 7, 2021, at 1:30 p.m. from the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Rev. David Mumpower officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 1:00 p.m.-1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. In observance of Covid-19 restrictions masks will be required for attendance and social distancing practices will be implemented.
