Ruth Crenshaw Harvey, a former primary teacher in Fairlington Elementary School, Arlington County, died on Saturday, June 19, 2010 at the Goodwin House Retirement Home in Alexandria, VA at the age of 93.
Mrs. Harvey, a native of Abingdon VA, was a graduate of Radford University and did graduate work at the University of Virginia. She began teaching in Abingdon, VA, then moved to Washington, DC in the early 1940s, where she met and married her husband of 45 years, Mott R. Harvey. She continued to teach at Fairlington School in Arlington until she retired in the mid 1970s. She was a member of Washington Street Methodist Church in Alexandria and a member of Susanna Wesley Circle and the Salvation Army. Survivors include several nieces and nephews. Her husband predeceased her in 1992.
A memorial service was held at the Goodwin House Memorial Chapel, 4800 Fillmore Ave., Alexandria, VA on Wednesday, June 30 at 3 p.m.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, July 3, 2010 at Knollkreg Memorial Park in Abingdon, VA with Rev. Dale Myers officiating.
The family will receive friends Friday, July 2, 2010 at Farris Funeral Service from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M .
