Ruth Marie Compton Crouse

Ruth Marie (Deecy) Compton Crouse born July 29, 1930 in Powell, TN passed away on June 12, 2023 in New River, Arizona.

During her long life, Ruth was a wife, mother, grandmother.

She is preceded in death by her husband Greever Crouse; parents Samuel Criss Compton and Eula Ree Ethel Day; brother Fred Oford; sisters Rose Ella, and Barbara Ann.

She is survived by her daughters Donna (George) Cohn, Teresa (Chris) Micuda; grandson Matthew Micuda (Jessica); granddaughter Sunshine (Ryan) Tauteris and numerous family members and friends.

Ruth lived in Emory, Virginia over 62 years. She received her Doctorate in 1954 and was a professor of Languages and Great Books at Emory and Henry College for over 40 years. She retired from Emory and Henry College in 1997.

Ruth loved to travel, taking many trips overseas and even studying abroad for several months in Peru and Mexico. She enjoyed playing bridge and watching golf/basketball on tv.

A graveside service is scheduled for September 30, 2023, at 4:00 PM at Holston Conference Cemetery-Emory & Henry Cemetery in Emory, Virginia.
