Ruth Elma West, 93, passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2019 at Holston Manor, Kingsport, Tenn. Her first husband was Rev. Arthur McCray, Jr. Being the wife of a minister, she lived in Virginia, Florida, Tennessee and North Carolina. In all of these locations, she dedicated her work to the Assembly of God Church. Ruth was always a jokester, even in her later years, and she will be remembered for her delicious butterscotch pies.
Ruth was predeceased by her parents Branson and Voy Henderson Akers; husbands Arthur McCray, Jr., and Glenn West; daughter Linda Jenkins; and sister Esther Worley.
She is survived by her daughter Rosalind Larkins and husband Homer of Church Hill, Tenn.; grandchildren Brandi Jenkins and husband Doug, Paige Crawford, and Mark Poff and wife Karen; great-grandchildren William, Haley, and Elijah Jenkins and Taylor Price.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, March 14, 2019 at Knollkreg Memorial Park with Doug Jenkins and Mark Poff officiating. Those attending the service are asked to meet at the cemetery at least 15 minutes prior to the service.
