Sammy Galliher

Lebanon, Virginia – Samuel Malcolm “Sam” Galliher, age 89, passed away peacefully Monday, September 10, 2024, in Lebanon, Virginia after a brief illness. Sam was born December 13, 1934, to the late Samuel Galliher and Laura Safewright Galliher in Saltville, Virginia. 

He was proceeded in death by his loving wife of 69 years Lillian Harris Galliher. Sam and Lillian owned Galliher’s Upholstery and Antique Shop and worked side by side for 52 years. Sam is also proceeded in death by his brother, Bill Galliher; and sisters, Helen Sprinkle and Edith Preston

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Susan Thompson and husband Greg, Judy Jessee and husband John; grandchildren, Jennifer Carter and husband Phil, Matt Thompson, Zachary Jessee, Andrew Jessee and Mally Jessee; great grandchildren, Bryson Carter and Riley Carter; and several special nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 - 4:00 Thursday, Sept 12, 2024, at Lebanon Baptist Church with a celebration of life to follow at 4:00 p.m. Graveside services will be held Friday, Sept 13, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. Forest Hills Memory Gardens, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon, Virginia with Greg Thompson, John Jessee, Zachary Jessee, Andrew Jessee, Phil Carter and Bryson Carter serving as pallbearers. 

The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Russell County Hospital, Kissito Health, and Maple Grove Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the wonderful care provided to Mr. Galliher. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Lebanon Baptist Church Family Life Building Fund, P.O. Box 488, Lebanon, Va 24266.
