Atlanta, GA Samuel Bachman Howard, age 86, of Atlanta, passed away Tuesday May 26, 2015. A native of Kingsport, TN, he was a Korean War Veteran. He graduated with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Tech in 1956. Throughout his work career he was employed by Lockheed Aircraft, General Motors, Coca Cola and his own company, Fleet Distribution Inc., for 35 years. He was especially proud of a design on the C-130 Airplane, as it is flown all over the world. One of his joys in life was traveling to unique places and hometowns with his good friends in Atlanta, the Georgia Gypsies. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ann Musser Howard; nieces and nephews John Howard, Betty Jo Miser, Melissa Higgins, Mary Burke Payne, Suzanne Edwards, Libby McLellan, Sherry Kibutz, Lewis Musser Jr., Mary Ann and Margaret; great-nieces and nephews Sarah Campbell, Anna Gautney, Josh Higgins, Macy Higgins, Chris Howard, Neil McLellan, Kevin McLellan and Molly McLellan. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 29, 2015 at Oak Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. Louis Miller and Rev. Mary Lou Gilbert officiating. Burial will take place Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Knollkreg Memorial Park in Abingdon, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Oak Grove UMC Building Fund, 1722 Oak Grove Rd., Decatur, GA 30033. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 28, 2015 from 4:00 until 7:00 pm at A. S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home and Crematory.
