Abingdon, VA – Shelby Mann Rose, age 77, passed away Saturday, May 30, 2015, at Bristol Regional Medical Center. She was born to the late Leslie Randolph Mann and Josie Porter Mann in 1938 in Clinchco, VA. Shelby was a member of the first graduating class of Ervinton High School and lived in McClure, VA until moving to Abingdon in 1988. She worked for the Dickenson County School System until her retirement in 1990. Shelby was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother with a smile that could light up the room. Survivors include her husband of 57 years, J.D. Rose; one daughter, Trina Wellman and husband Jack of Abingdon, VA; one son, Randy Rose and wife Rebecca of Lebanon, VA; three granddaughters, Amber Chanaa and husband Sami, Ashley Huff and husband Tyson, and Samantha Crockett and husband Daniel; one grandson, Joseph Rose; four great-grandsons; brother, Frank Mann and wife Margaret; sister, Cynthia Rose and her late husband Dempsey Rose; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Visitation with the family will be held 5-7 p.m. Monday, June 1, 2015, at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Joseph Green officiating. A graveside committal service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at Temple Hill Memorial Park in Castlewood, VA with Rev. Stephen Talbert officiating. Pallbearers will be Joseph Rose, Sami Chanaa, Tyson Huff, Daniel Crockett, Mike Rose, Mark Rose, Harold Porter, and Paul Porter. Honorary Pallbearers will be Lee Hill, Earn McCoy, John Borders, Joe Tate, Charlie Anderson, Charles Salyers, Tony Skeen, Don Rose,Franklin Mann, Danny Murphy, and Buddy Murphy.
