Shirley Marie Hawkins, age 36, left this world far too early on Thursday, May 2, 2013, at her home. She was born Shirley Marie Taylor and resided in Abingdon, VA. Shirley lost her battle with lung complications and went to sleep peacefully and woke up in heaven.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Shirley Guinn and Nettie and Earnest Taylor. We love you! Miss you! And will keep you in our hearts until we see you again.
She leaves behind the love of her life, best friend, and daughter, Kristen Jaylee Hawkins; parents, Ruby and Jay Taylor; brother, Jay C. Taylor, Jr. and wife Jessica; and niece, Abbi Rayne Taylor who she called "Stink".
She also leaves behind a large number loving aunts, uncles, and cousins but always had a special place for her uncle "Bo".
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M Monday, May 6, 2013, at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Pastor Mike Dixon officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memory Gardens with Matthew Garrett, Andrew Garrett, Justin Garrett, Seaton Bowman, Leroy Howell and Chessie Howell serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held 5-8 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home. Family and friends may call upon the family at anytime at 22136 Pinebrook Drive, Bristol, VA 24202.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shirley Hawkins Memorial Fund, 19126 Bellevue Road, Abingdon, VA 24210. Those wishing to express sympathy online may do so by visiting www.farrisfuneralservice.com and signing the online guest register.
