Shirley Blevins Overbay

Glade Spring, VA – Shirley Blevins Overbay, age 97, passed away on Wednesday, December 18, 2024. Shirley was born on September 25, 1927 in Marion, VA to the late Walter and Julia Blevins. She had five sisters and three brothers who preceded her in death. Shirley graduated from Marion High School in 1946 and attended Marion Jr. College. She was very active in her church at Old Glade Presbyterian where she served as secretary for many years. She also served as a Girl Scout leader for 13 years.

Shirley married the love of her life, Warren Overbay, on August 11, 1951. They were married 51 years before his passing in 2008. She is survived by three daughters, Sue Blevins and husband Butch, Patty Haynes and husband Scott, and Lisa Overbay; five grandchildren, Chris Blevins and wife Jami, Matt Blevins and wife Renai, Alison Sumner and husband Alan, David Friend Jr. and wife Leann, Cherish Friend and fiancé Seth St. John; eight great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family will be held Saturday, December 21, 2024, in Old Glade Presbyterian Church from 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. Graveside services will follow in the Church Cemetery with Rev. Tim Bird officiating. Pallbearers will be Dalton Blevins, Jordan Blevins, Chris Blevins, Matt Blevins, Jacob Hubbard, and Alan Sumner.
