Sidney Ford Nipper

Glade Spring, VA- Sidney Ford Nipper, age 87, passed away on Wednesday, November 26, 2014, at his home. He was born to the late William Nipper and Dora Taylor Nipper on March 29, 1927 in the Upper Poor Valley section of Saltville, VA. Sidney was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps having served during World War II and was a faithful member of McCalls Gap Presbyterian Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Ruby Mae Nipper; brother, Wesley Nipper; three sisters, Virgie Snodgrass, Vernie Chapman, and Frances Surber; and son-in-law, Grady Mowl. Sidney is survived by two sons, Leslie W. Nipper and wife Ella of Saltville, VA and Curtis R. Nipper, Sr. and wife Nancy of Glade Spring, VA; two daughters, Linda JoAnn Nipper of Abingdon, VA and Judy Carol Mowl of Glade Spring, VA; brother, William Carl Nipper and wife Ruby of Saltville, VA; sister, Dorothy Henderson and husband Hack of Punta Gorda, FL; 9 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and 3 great great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 12:00-2:00 p.m. Monday, December 1, 2014, at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. A funeral ceremony will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Reverend Eugene Baldwin and Preacher Mike Riley officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Rose Cemetery where Denvil Gibson, Danny Mowl, Anthony Nipper, Robert Nipper, Jackie Pruitt, and Gary Stuart will serve as pallbearers. Chris Mowl will serve as an honorary pallbearer. Military honors will be provided by the Highlands Veterans Honor Guard and the Virginia National Guard. Memorial contributions may be made to McCalls Gap Presbyterian Church Building Fund, P.O.
