Silas Edward Kestner, born December 3, 1921, passed away at his home on Friday, December 9, 2011. He was a Veteran of World War II, having served in The Battle of the Bulge. He attended Brumley Gap Methodist Church. He had retired from U.S. Gypsum in Plasterco.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Gladys Tuggle Kestner; three daughters: Cathy Shrader and husband George; Judy Bordwine and husband Randy; and Fay Smith and husband Marty; two sisters: Clara Taylor and June Casey; five grandchildren: Andy Shrader; Jennifer Taylor and husband Brian; Willie Bordwine; Michael Smith and wife Kim; and Travis Smith; four great-grandchildren: Carlee and Sydney Taylor, and Cale and Joshua Smith.

The family will receive friends at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service on Saturday, December 10, 2011, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 11, 2011 in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Pastor Larry Linkous officiating. Military rites and burial will follow in the Henderson Family Cemetery in Hayter's Gap.
