Stella Carol “Tutor” Stiltner went to be with her Lord and Savior January 25, 2019 after fighting a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born on December 8, 1949 in Deskins, Va., the fourth child of Elmer and Kathleen Stiltner. She graduated from Grundy Senior High School and received her degree in education from the University of Pikeville. She was a strong believer in our Lord and Savior. She attended Highlands Fellowship in Bristol, Va. She recently retired from KVAT/ Food City distribution center in Abingdon, leaving the job and the wonderful people she loved and called family.
Stella was preceded in death by her loving parents and precious sister-in-law, Sue Stiltner.
Left to hold dear her memory are her brothers and sisters: Harold (Judy) Stiltner of Powhatan, Va., Jean (Johnny) Harper of Malabar, Fla., Janice (Allen) Deskins of Swords Creek, Va., Barbara Thomas of Bristol, Va., and Jack Stiltner and special friend Yvonne Horn of Vansant, Va. She was loved and cherished by her many nieces and nephews and one very special neice, Carrie (Robert) Owens of Abingdon; they were always ready to hear one of her “corny” jokes.
The family will greet guests and share memories Monday, January 28, 2019 from 5-7 p.m. in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with the funeral service to follow with Minister Bill Neeley officiating. The committal service will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 29, 2019 in Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, Va. Everyone is asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:50 a.m.
