Stella Mae Hay Fields, age 75, passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2013 at her home. Stella was born December 24, 1937 in Haysi, VA to the late Oakley Hay and Velva Edwards Hay and moved to Abingdon in 1947. She worked at Sperry Univac for 19 years and was a member of Greendale Chapel. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one sister, Helen Fields, and one brother, Roy Hay.
She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Berkley Dean Fields of Abingdon, VA; two daughters, Louise (Jerry) Oney Bledsoe and Deana (David) Moore, both of Abingdon, VA; two brothers, James Wilson Hay and Elmer Lee (Annette) Hay, both of Abingdon, VA; five grandchildren, Ricky Edmiston, Joshua Edmiston, Kolton Powers, Morgan Mowdy, and Rhaygan Moore; two great-granchildren, Tanner Armstrong and Lily Edmiston; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the family will be 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 3rd at the funeral home with the Reverend Jerry A. Eggers officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memory Gardens where Ricky Edmiston, Kolton Powers, David Moore, Joshua Edmiston, Eddie Wayne Fields, and Wayne Dye will serve as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be Giles "Smokey" Fields, James A. Fields, Jr., Elmer Hay, and James Hay.
