Stephen G. Loggans, age 63, passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2013, at his home. Stephen was born and raised in Concord, NC and moved to Virginia in 2004. He retired from Mitel Telecommunications and was owner of Riverside Campground on North Fork River Road in Abingdon. Stephen loved to farm, was a Scout Master for numerous years, and was also bass player and singer for the bluegrass band The New Edition. He was a member of Christ the King Church in Abingdon, VA.
Stephen was preceded in death by his father, Uyless Loggans; his brother, Jonathan Loggans; his sister, Lateena Loggans; and his loyal companion, Frittz. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Joyce Arthurs Loggans of Chilhowie, VA; mother, Sylvia Safrit Loggans of Concord; son Jeffrey Loggans of Concord, NC; daughters Jennifer Loggans and Erin (David) Sanders of Chilhowie; brother Richard (Patti) Loggans of Concord; two grandchildren, Janelle and Lillian Sanders of Chilhowie; and loyal companion, Blackie.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at Christ the King Church with Father Francis Xavier Musolooza officiating. Visitation with the family will be held at the church from 12:00-1:00 P.M. just prior to the service.
A graveside committal service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, March 30, 2013, at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church Cemetery in Concord, NC with Pastor Ron Hughes officiating.
