Steve M. Semancik, age 94, and formerly of Belle Vernon, PA, died Monday, December 31, 2012 at the Hospice House in Bristol, TN. He had lived with his son in Abingdon, VA for the past five years. Born June 13, 1918 in Wickhaven, PA, he was the son of the late Michael P. and Elizabeth Gurbal Semancik. He was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church and a member of the Jednotta Slovak Union. He had worked as a coal miner and a carpenter and was devoted to his work.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Margarette Moskal Semancik on February 28, 2007; seven brothers, Albert, John, Andrew, Michael, Frank, Anthony and Joseph; two sisters, Mary Miller and Julia Kluh.
He is survived by a daughter, Diane Semancik; son, Stephen D. (Peggy) Semancik of Abingdon, VA; brother-in-law, Oscar Kluh of Potomac, MD; three granddaughters, Vicky (Scott) Andrew of PA, Helena (John) Glaneman of PA and Elizabeth Semancik (Brian) White of Atlanta, GA; seven great-grandchildren, Tyler and Kendra Andrew, Natalie, John, Jr. and Sarah Glaneman, and Fiona Elizabeth and Annabel Avery White; and several nieces and nephews whom he dearly loved.
Funeral Services will be held at Leonard J. Parzynski Funeral Home in Belle Vernon, PA.
The family would like to thank all of the friends and family members who helped care for Pap Pap during his illness, especially Connie McSheehy, Jane Smith, and Pat Stefanowicz.
