Steven Dale Bowers

Dateline: Myrtle Beach, SC- Steven Dale Bowers, age 54, entered the Heavens on Saturday, May 23, 2015 after a long battled illness. Steve was born in Bristol, TN on March 28, 1961 and was raised in the Bristol Area. He attended John S. Battle High School and was a member of the Scenic Park Baptist Church. He was baptized in July of 1972. He resided in the Murrells Inlet and Myrtle Beach, SC area for the remainder of his life. He worked over 28 years in the concrete industry and remained with Argos Company where he had many friends and co-workers. He and Capers, his beloved Jack Russell Terrier, loved the outdoors. Steve loved wood working and was an excellent fisherman. He was responsible for many of the unexplained fish in the ponds and streams of the Myrtle Beach area. He was a great story teller and was known for his great sense of humor. He also loved fishing the South Holston River in Bristol, TN and that was his "favorite place to be." He was preceded in death by his father, Tony Dale Bowers; paternal grandparents, William R. “Shine” Bowers and Virginia Rose Bowers; and maternal grandparents, Floyd E. “Dock” Callahan and Ruth Barnett Callahan. He is survived by his mother, Phyllis Callahan Dunn and husband Artie; sister, Karen Bowers Wiles and husband Buddy; brother, Christopher William Bowers and partner Audrey Stevens; niece, Shannon Dawn Slone and husband Jason; nephew, Matthew Shaun McGrady; two great nephews, Cameron and Landon Slone; and numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins who loved him dearly. A funeral ceremony will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 28, 2015 at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Pastor Stephen Talbert officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memory Gardens where Roger Dean Bowers, Steve Lovins, Matthew McGrady, Sammy Rasnake, Jason Slone, and Danny Wood will serve as pallbearers. Marty McCall will serve as an honorary pallbearer. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 28th at the funeral home.
