Sue Sheffey Coffee Trent
The last word she spoke and repeated so clearly and preciously was "Home". Sue Sheffey Coffee Trent arrived there on Wednesday, October 17, 2012 when at age 91 she passed into the presence of Our Lord.
Great comfort is found in knowing that she is not only with Him, but that He has declared "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His godly ones" (Psalm 116:15, NASB). The number of days God planned for her to be on this Earth are over. Her departure signals not an end, but a new beginning in Heaven with Him.
Born to Mrs. Trent and her late husband of 29 years, Charles H. Trent, Sr., were four children. William passed away on April 6, 1960. One son and two daughters remain as do two grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Locally she leaves behind her daughter, Katie Trent-Carrington of Abingdon.
Mrs. Sue, as she was lovingly referred to, was employed by hospitals in Abingdon and New York. She provided elder care in Abingdon as well. However, her real work was in loving, encouraging, giving, laughing, singing hymns, fellowshipping, providing hospitality to others, and persevering though her faith in Jesus Christ.
We were tremendously blessed by her presence and invite you gather with us at Farris Funeral Home, 427 East Main Street, Abingdon, VA 24210, one hour prior to the 3:00 p.m. service on Saturday, October 20, 2012. In the meantime visitors will be received at the family home, 307 B Street, Abingdon, VA 24210, beginning Friday, October 19th, from 11:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.
Officiating will be Reverend William Austin and Pastor John Stapleton. Pallbearers will be family members and friends. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memory Gardens.
A special word of thanks is offered to those of you who were faithful to visit, comfort, reverently pray for, love, and care for her to the end.
In lieu of flowers and at her request contributions should be made to the American Cancer Society, 230 Charwood Drive, Abingdon, VA 24210.
