Suzanne Marie Harris Sayers

Dateline: Bluefield, Va.- Suzanne Marie Harris Sayers, age 58, who was an earthly angel, gained her heavenly wings on Sunday, November 1, 2015. She was the first of three children born to C.W. Harris, Jr. and Marie Seymore Harris on May 29, 1957, in Bristol, Tenn. All of her life Suzanne loved sewing and her most proud accomplishment was designing and creating the costumes for the Bluefield Dance Theater under the direction of Randy and Nancy Lamb. She loved all the children in the troupe and they loved her. Suzanne also assisted her mother in customizing patterns and sewing 72 usher vests for the Barter Theater in addition to other sewing projects for the theater. She loved flowers and was a talented gardener. She and Dan owned Target Vegetation Control, LLC of which she was the primary manager. She was of the Methodist faith and maintained her membership at Abingdon United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her beloved Boston Terriers, DJ, Dale, and Missy. Suzanne is survived by her devoted husband of 28 years, Dan Sayers, and her precious Boston Terrier, Wink; sister, Terri Shifflett and husband Alvin of Oilville, Va.; brother, Allen Harris of Raleigh, N.C.; Suzanne was the rock for her beloved mother-in-law, Cathleen Sayers of Bluefield, Va.; special nieces and nephews, Abby Harris, Maggie Harris, Tiffany Shifflett Jenkins and husband Scott, Wesley Shifflett, Sabrina Shifflett; grand nieces and nephews, Teague, Tori, and Olivia Jenkins. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 3, 2015, at Abingdon United Methodist Church, 101 East Main Street, Abingdon, Va. 24210. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 4, 2015, at the church with the Rev. Dr. Robert Countiss and the Rev. Clarence Dishman officiating. Interment will follow at Knollkreg Memorial Park where pallbearers will be Alvin Shifflett, Wesley Shifflett, Mike Cox, Dan Forrester, Scott Jenkins, Mike Seymore, John Preston Seymore III, and Randy Lamb.
