Thelma Christine Davenport, age 87, passed away on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at Emeritus Assisted Living in Kingsport, TN. She was born to the late John Bishop and Myrtle Nichols Bishop on June 15, 1926 in Little Rock, AK. She attended Valley View F.W.B.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Seldon Coolidge Davenport; three brothers, Earl Bishop, Bobby Bishop, and Lonnie Bishop; sister, Lennie Epperson; and son-in-law, Jim Brown.
She is survived by three sons: Alvin Davenport (Linda) of Kingsport, TN; Kermit Davenport (Linda) of Hendersonville, TN; and Kevin Davenport (Sandra) of Bristol, VA; daughter, Kathy Davenport-Brown of Sevierville, TN; four grandsons, Nathan Davenport, Eric Davenport, Jason Davenport, and Brent Davenport; granddaughter, Susan McDavid; four great-grandchildren; four brothers: Manuel Bishop of Bristol, TN; Junior Bishop of Maryville, TN; Jody Bishop and Ray Bishop, both of Richmond, VA; sisters: Novella Hatchel of Blackstone, VA; Jettie Robinson of Amelia, VA; and Alice Viers of Saltville, VA.
Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Saturday, December 7, 2013 at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. A funeral service will be held at 8:00 p.m., Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor Eddie Gobble officiating. Those who wish to attend the committal service are asked to meet at Mountain View Cemetery by 2:00 p.m., Sunday. Flowers will be accepted.
