Thelma Louise Clevinger

Thelma Louise Clevinger, age 91, of Abingdon, Virginia, was surrounded by loving family members when she passed away at her home on April 18, 2021.  Born in Wise County, Virginia on September 23, 1929, Thelma made a home and raised her family in Buchanan County before moving to Abingdon where she lived for over 20 years. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Frank Clevinger; parents, Charles and Irma Ellen Jordan; daughters, Connie Dickey and Sandy Stiltner; and son, Tony Clevinger;siblings Frances Williamson, Jim Jordan and wife Sheryl, Ella Wyatt and husband Cecil, and brother in law Ertle Thompson. 

Thelma is survived by her son, Danny C. Clevinger and daughter-in-law Ola Clevinger of Oakwood; daughter, Andrea Clevinger-Gillenwater and son-in-law Joe Gillenwater of Abingdon; and sisters, Dorla Jordan of Bend, Oregon, and June Thompson of Charlottesville. She is also survived by five grandchildren and their families:  Heather and Scott Anderson, Selena Dickey, Carrie and Patrick Crumpton, Vanessa and Marcus Dunham, and Andrew and Ashley Stiltner.  She was a proud great-grandmother to Rebekah, Charlotte, Charleigh, and Henry. 
Over the years, countless others were fortunate enough to claim Thelma as their Granny.  Among them is special neighbor, Cain Elledge of Abingdon. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers and sisters in law, and other loved ones.  

Funeral Services will be held at 6:00 PM on Tuesday, April 20th at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. Visitation will follow. Interment will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, April 21st at Mountain Valley Memorial Park in Big Rock, Virginia.  Pallbearers will be family and friends. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the American Cancer Society at cancer.org, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society at nationalmssociety.org, or a charity of your choice.  COVID-19 protocol will be followed to include wearing masks, social distancing, and observing occupancy requirements.
