Thomas Dixon Price

Thomas Dixon Price, age 90, passed away on Sunday, April 20, 2014, at Lakebridge Health Care in Johnson City, TN. He was born to the late Albert Lee Price and Ethel Mae Church Price on July 9, 1923 in Smyth County, VA. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army Air Force. Having entered the service in 1943, he saw action in the Pacific and received three Bronze Star Medals. He enjoyed a successful career as a route salesman for Bassett’s Dairy and later worked at Sovran Bank as a courier. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, George and Gordon Price; and four sisters, Lillian Balding, Virginia “Tee” Price, Fannie Venable, and Irene “Reany” Venable-Street. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Gracie Johnson Price; two sons, Jerry Price and wife Colleen of Birmingham, AL and David Price and wife Robin of Bristol, VA; daughter, Patricia Price Deel and husband Ronnie of Bristol, TN; sister-in-law, Marton Price Hooker of CA; 9 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. A funeral ceremony will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 23rd in the mausoleum of Mt. Rose Cemetery with the Reverend Joshua Price officiating. Those wishing to attend the funeral ceremony are asked to meet at the funeral home by 12:30 p.m., Wednesday to travel in procession to Mt. Rose Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Matthew Deel, Ronnie Deel, Joel McClure, Chris Price, Ryne Price, and Robert Schenker. Military Honors will be presented by the Virginia National Guard. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the nurses and staff of the Mountain Home VA Medical Center, Lakebridge Health Care, and Caris Hospice.
