Thomas “Tom” Casey, age 85, of Bristol, Va., passed away on Friday, May 24, 2019, at Bristol Regional Medical Center. He was born November 4, 1933, to the late Bert Casey and Bessie Cuddy Casey in Greendale, Va. Tom served honorably in the United States Army for 27 years including two tours in Vietnam and one tour in Taiwan. He retired in 1976 and was also a dedicated Mason for 43 years. After retiring from the military, Tom worked at Line Power for several years. Some of Tom’s favorite pass times were fishing and going on deer drives with his wife. Tom was also very fond of his pets. He was always willing to help others. He and his wife, Ruth, attended Walnut Grove Presbyterian Church in Bristol, Va.
In addition to his parents, Tom was also preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Gobble and Minnie Bostwick; and three brothers, Robert Casey, Eugene Nash, and Jackie Wayne Nash.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ruth Dolinger Casey; two sisters, Bettie Morrison and Joyce Harmon both of Abingdon, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 29, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Rev. John Markel officiating. A committal service will be held at Knollkreg Memorial Park where Military Honors will be provided by the United States Army. Pallbearers will be Andrew Campbell Dolinger, Jackie Ray Dolinger, Samuel Glen Dolinger, Samuel Harrison Dolinger, LeGrand Calvin James, and Douglas Swindall. Honorary pallbearers will be James Campbell Fulbright and John Campbell James. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 28, 2019, from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
