Thurl Bruce Roberson went home to be with his Lord and Savior on December 8, 2022.
Thurl had a great love of the Scriptures and the Jesus it proclaims from his early adulthood continuing throughout his life. He worked for many years in various coal business related jobs before becoming an FAA inspector and mechanic. He was a World War II Marine Corps veteran who flew combat missions in the battles of Saipan, Iwo Jima, and Okinawan campaigns. It was through that experience that Thurl gained an appreciation and love for aviation that never left him.
Thurl was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Lila Christine Osborne Roberson; his parents Kenas Gorman and Cora Dotson Roberson; brothers Kenas Shelton Roberson and Gorman Carlisle Roberson and sister Dorothey Jean Roberson.
Immediate family survivors include his sister, Irene Roberson Adams; sons Bruce Kent Roberson (wife Cheryl) and Rodney Howard Roberson; and daughter Christa Lauren Roberson St. John (husband Matthew); grandsons Kenneth Thurl Roberson and Conner Lee Roberson; granddaughters Erin Rae Roberson Marciano (husband Joshua), Emily Grace St. John Nickel (husband Hunter) and Kathryn Christine St. John. He has one great-grandson Micah Daniel Marciano.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 12, 2022 in the Chapel of Love Mausoleum at Temple Hill Memorial Park in Castlewood, Virginia. The funeral service for Thurl Bruce Roberson will be conducted at 2:00 pm, with the Rev. Matthew St. John officiating. Entombment in the mausoleum will follow the service.
