Dateline: Abingdon, VA- Timothy Lee Campbell, age 59, passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at Johnston Memorial Hospital. He retired from the United States Army having served five tours of duty in Afghanistan and Iraq. He served a combined total of 22 years of service and was awarded a Bronze Star. He was a certified pistol instructor for the National Rifle Association and was employed by HAPCO of Abingdon at the time of his passing. He was born to the late Theodore Boyd Campbell, Sr. and Mary Frances Fisher Campbell on July 30, 1955 in Waynesboro, VA. In addition to his parents, Tim was also preceded in death by his brother, Theodore Boyd “Chipper” Campbell, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 10 years, Deborah Arms-Campbell; two daughters, Beth Dowdell and husband Chris of Gaithersburg, MD and Jennifer Powell and husband Jamel of Waynesboro, VA; two step-sons, Daniel Arms of Richlands, VA and Zachary Arms of Abingdon, VA; step-daughter, Tonya Arms of Richlands, VA; and 14 grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 2, 2015 at the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon, VA 24210. A funeral ceremony will be held at 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Pastor Dave Gibson officiating. Military Honors will be presented by the Highlands Veterans Honor Guard and the Virginia National Guard. It was Tim’s wish to be cremated following the funeral ceremony. Honorary pallbearers will be Joey Blanton, Mark Lawson, Wayne Barker, Joe Hollyfield, Craig South, and Daniel Tate.
