Verlin Nelson Moore, age 84, has peacefully passed away at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon, Virginia. He was born on October 21, 1939, in Washington County, Virginia to the late James Samuel Moore and Carrie Belle Moore.
Throughout his life, Verlin was cherished for his profound love for family and the joy he found in the company of his nieces and nephews. His warm smile and kind heart will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Verlin worked for many years at Valleydale as a meat processor. Apart from his professional endeavors, Verlin had a passion for fishing and hunting. He also found solace and happiness in playing the banjo, showcasing his musical talents to those around him. His faith was an integral part of his life, as he held a deep love for the Lord.
In addition to his parents, Verlin was preceded in death by his brothers, Rufus Frank Moore and Eugene Moore; sister, Wanda Oddegared; brother-in-law, Bill Davis; and sisters-in-law, Bonnie Moore and Diane Moore.
Verlin leaves behind a legacy that will be carried on by his surviving siblings: Hazel Davis, Geneive Garrison, Brenda Middleton, O'Dell Moore, Alan Moore, Harold Moore (Kathy), as well as numerous nieces and nephews who adored him.
A visitation to honor Verlin's life will be held on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Farris Funeral Service – Main Street Chapel in Abingdon, Virginia. Following the visitation, a funeral service will take place at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Barbara Farmer officiating. The burial ceremony will follow at Forest Hills Memory Gardens where family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
