Vicki Michele Buettner

Glade Spring, VA - Vicki Michele Harmon Buettner, age 62, passed on Sunday, September 22, 2024, at her home. Vicki was born to the late Bill Lee Harmon and Bertha Goldie Miller Harmon in Washington, D.C. She grew up in Prince Georges County, MD where she graduated from DuVal High School.

Vicki lived many years in Florida before moving to Southwest Virginia in 2014. She was employed as a property manager for many years in Florida and then later for student housing on the Virginia Tech campus. Vicki worked briefly for Mt. Rogers Public Health. Vicki attended Joy Baptist Church in Glade Spring.

Strong, self-sufficient and sharp-witted, Vicki was fun-loving and adventurous. She even once bought a Boss Hoss V8 motorcycle to ride! When she relaxed, she loved the beach and mountains equally. She was especially proud of her Native American heritage.

She was a spirited woman who loved her family, friends and every animal she encountered, always putting others first. She took in strays and nursed them back to health and treated her donkeys, chickens, dogs and cats as her babies. Vicki was a fabulous cook and also enjoyed sharing her creations such as jellies, jams and vegetables with friends and family.

Vicki is survived by her husband of 38 years, Conrad (Butch) Buettner; step-daughters, Elizabeth Buettner, Marcy Kerby and husband Zane, Gigi Locke and husband Lance, and Bonnie Andrews and husband James; ten grandchildren; a great grandchild; an aunt Wilma Miller; cousins, Randy Surber, Ron Reedy and wife Lois, Jack Reedy and wife Ann and Patti Strade and husband Bob. She is also survived by in-laws John and Jean Buettner, Robert and Vicky Buettner, Charles and Dolores Buettner and Mary B. Moore, a host of other cousins, extended family, lifelong friends, neighbors and colleagues from various times in her life- all who will greatly miss her and her beautiful smile, joyous laughter and kind heart.

A memorial service will be held 4:00 p.m. Saturday, October 12, 2024, at Joy Baptist Church, 37266 Faris Drive, Glade Spring, VA, with Pastor Jay Overbay officiating. Reception to follow the service.
